Drinking iced tea and listening to the presentaions of business ideas of students in the afternoon, the Summer Economics Institute 2017 have ended. Within this program AmCham Slovenia and US Embassy in Slovenia are connecting study and business paths of students from different study programs fort he sixth year in a row.

The U.S. Ambassador to Slovenia, H.E. Brent R. Hartley, addressed the students: »I am surprised from how many different study programs are you students, from medicine, anthropology, biotechnology. Through the program you have discovered different world, entrepreneurial world. For companies is this an opportunity to meet rising talents.« 

Executive Director of AmCham Slovenia, MSc Ajša Vodnik, encouraged the gathering students with the following message: »We want opportunities and optimism. Opportunities for all of us to connect and find something better. Optmism, so that Slovenia will be big enough for the young talents to go out of their comfort zones and take us all with us.«

This year participated in SEI 19 students from different faculties and different study programs. Students have tested themselves through working holidays in entrepreneurship. During two weeks long training program have students created projects. They also prepared prototypes of applications and web sites.  

During working holidays were presented ideas about healthy food delivery 'GoFresh', project 'Mreža znanja' which connects students with labour market, 'ParkSpace' – an idea about 'airbnb' for park spaces, 'Amor Aevitas' – brand for DNA jwellery and 'Shariot' – app for connecting students abroad.

Students have gained practical experiences and knowledge during their internships in AmCham Slovenia partner companies. In this year's program have participated Bayer. Bisnode, CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz – Podružnica v Sloveniji, Competo, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Kolektor Group, KPMG, Lemur Legal, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Pernod Ricard Slovenia, Philip Morris Ljubljana, Špica International and Union Hotels.
