To a call by Mr.Tomaž Lovše, the AmCham President, General Colin L. Powell, former USA State Secretary (2001-2005), responded. General Powell and his assistant Leslie landed in a heavy fall of rain at the Ljubljana Airport but in spite of bad weather conditions, with their kindness, humanity and eagerness for exploring Slovenia radiated a rainbow energy. A Slovene reporter who had an opportunity to make an interview with the General, admitted frankly:« You know, I was in a terrible funk, as it meant meeting a history to me«.

For me, it meant making an acquaintance with a great man, with all due respect for his successes and comprehending his awareness of some mistakes made. In our conversation, he revealed plenty of stories, some of them still remaining in secret but nevertheless proving that the worst enemies may become allies and vice versa. However, at the end of each day everything concludes in human relationships which either enrich or sadden you.

The end of summer thus gave us energy for September, when we are looking forward in seeing you again, in strengthening the bonds among us and in mutual exploring good ideas for new opportunities. September, 15, a General Assembly will take place, where you will be able to support two new members of Board. A reception will follow, where the ambassadors of economic forces will reveal their views of Slovenia. September, 19, will be a day for golf lovers. September, 28, a Business Breakfast will be held with our guests Mr. Debeljak and Mr. Tedeschi, two top managers of SE Europe as solemn speakers.

I am looking forward to AmCham September and wish for lots of positive attitude in the business community and society as well.
