At the recent meeting of the AmCham Ready 4D Future Committee, we once again emphasized the pressing need to introduce ‘Digital Language’ into Slovenia’s education system. Slovenia is visibly falling on digital literacy rankings, which jeopardizes the competitiveness of our economy and future generations. Studies show that Slovenian primary school students lag behind their peers in other countries in using ICT and computational thinking, a direct consequence of the absence of a mandatory computer science and informatics subject.
Our meeting also resulted in several concrete conclusions. Commitment to dialogue with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, and the Ministry of Finance is crucial as we aim to overcome operational barriers and implement proposals, including curriculum reform and systematic teacher training.
