AmCham Business Breakfast: Special Edition
The AmCham Slovenia community traditionally ended the year in a festive spirit at the inspiring AmCham Business Breakfast: Special Edition. At the event, we announced the Best of the Best 2024, recognizing the best business practice of the year and also the recipients of the AmCham Business Leader of the Year awards – Vita Godec and Ivo Boscarol. A combination of online voting, votes from the expert committee, and audience votes at the event determined the best business practice.
🌟 The winner is Simbioza Genesis, social enterprise, Simbioza Mobiln@ – the first travelling classroom on wheels.

The social enterprise Simbioza has introduced and implemented a pioneering social innovation in Slovenia (and beyond) with their project Simbioza Mobiln@. This initiative helps older adults acquire digital skills while promoting community building, intergenerational collaboration, and greater social inclusion for seniors. Simbioza Mobiln@ goes beyond the traditional classroom setting, focusing primarily on older adults living in rural areas, effectively bridging the gap between urban and rural communities in digital education. It provides seniors with direct access to technology, helping them overcome fears of using it and discover practical solutions for everyday life. Since its launch in 2021, the project has achieved remarkable results. Over 8,800 older adults have been trained through more than 800 workshops and educational activities, totaling over 2,240 hours of digital literacy instruction. These workshops and activities have been conducted in more than 470 locations across Slovenia, with the project team traveling over 65,000 kilometers to bring education directly to rural communities.
The project representative, and CEO & Co-founder of Simbioza, Ana Pleško, stated during the announcement: “During the pandemic, we realized how quickly we could become cut off from the world and how invaluable technological solutions are. However, the true value lies in the stories from the field. The society of the future is built on wisdom, youth, and intergenerational collaboration, as only together can we create a better world. Without community and cooperation, there is no Simbioza, and we are immensely grateful to everyone who recognizes the contribution of the community in our story.”
