How does the only nuclear power plant in Slovenia operate?


We will get to know how the power plant operates and take a guided tour of the non-nuclear part of the power plant.


Did you know?


  1. According to the latest data from the International Atomic Energy Agency, there are 444 nuclear power plants in 31 countries, most of them located in the United States. Krško Nuclear Power Plant has been operating since 1984.
  2. Nuclear power plants worldwide produce around 17% of all electricity. The Krško Nuclear Power Plant annually produces over 5 billion kWh of electricity, which represents approximately 40% of the total electricity produced in Slovenia.
  3. Calculations show that the use of nuclear energy annually saves about 800 million tons of CO2. As many as 200 million cars could be withdrawn from the roads for the same amount of money.
  4. Every year, around 5,000 visitors visit the Krško Nuclear Power Plant.

We will go to the Krško Nuclear Power Plant, on Thursday, May 16, 2019. Bus transport is organized. Departure from Ljubljana is scheduled at 12:30 pm. Meeting point is at parking lot P + R Dolgi most. The return back to Ljubljana is scheduled at 7:00 pm. Detailed information about the visit program follows.
