How do we become our own biggest ally or what do an olympic medal winner and a business leader have in common?

On our first meeting with 10th Generation of AmCham Young Professionals we will travel through the world of sports and business achievements, determination, dedication and strong will.  Our guests will be Sara Isakovič, the first lady of Slovenian swimming, winner of an olympic silver medal and a business leader, and Tomaž Lanišek, Knauf Insulation, an established business leader, the first AmCham Top Potential of The Year and the vice president of the Board of Governors of AmCham Slovenia.

Why Sara and Tomaž? Because they have a few point in common:

  1. They both went to college in the USA and brought their knowledge back to Slovenia.
  2. They are both sportsmen and businessmen – Sara is a swimmer who focused on the psychology of success and Tomaž is a dancer and a business leader.
  3. They both come from Gorenjska region.
  4. With their persistence and determination, they both overcame obstacles in their homeland and abroad.
  5. They are both ambassadors of positive values and goodwill.

We will talk about the challenges of success in the field of sports and business, goals that drive you and the power of positive psychology.

Sara Isaković is the most successful Slovenian swimmer, winner of the Olympic silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In addition to sports, today, four years after her career ended, she found her mission in researching brain function and performance psychology. After graduating from Berkeley University and a master's degree in San Diego, Sara began working with young athletes, pilots, and business professionals to help them perform optimally in stressful situations. Following her experience in the US, she moved to Dubai to work as an intern at the Emirates Airlines Psychology Department. She has built her mental training program for airline pilots to create a healthy work environment for pilots in which they will feel confident. After working in the fitness industry in Norway, she returned to Slovenia. Her current mission is to bring psychology to athletes, business professionals or pilots, and explain it in a practical, fun and accessible way. Positive psychology is part of her practice as she believes in training a positive psychological state of mind and activating emotions for the fit brain.

Tomaž Lanišek, Knauf Insulation, is a university graduate economist and magister of Economic Science. He also completed the MBA of Business Science at the University of Drury in the USA. Throughout his career, he has held many functions. He was active in the field of marketing, sales and management in the company Goodyear Dunlop Sava Tires and he joined Knauf Insulation in 2013. During that time Knauf Insulation became the winner of the Slovenian Gazela award for the fastest-growing company of the year and a global development center for Knauf Insulation group. Tomaž Lanišek is also a dancer, swimmer and photographer. His photographs have been displayed in exhibits both at home and abroad. He is also AmCham's first Top Potential of The Year and the current vice president of the Board of Governors of AmCham Slovenia. He is involved in many business interest groups where he is an ambassador for positive values in the business world.
