American astronaut of Slovenian origin visited Slovenia as a guest of honor at the celebration of 15 great years of AmCham Slovenia
šega came to Slovenia on the invitation of AmCham Slovenia to be a guest of honor at the 15th anniversary of AmCham Slovenia.
Dr. šega is an American astronaut, Major General, a military pilot, and a professor with Slovenian roots. In his career he spent 17 days 12 hours and 25 minutes in space, among them also at the Russian space station Mir, and made more than 270 orbits of the Earth.
During his stay in Slovenia šega met with H. E. Borut Pahor, President of the Republic of Slovenia, dr. Milan Brglez, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, Gorazd Žmavc, Minister for Slovenians Abroad, Zoran Janković, Mayor of Ljubljana and US Ambassador to Slovenia, H.E. Joseph A. Mussomeli.
At the meetings šega highlighted that Slovenia is a great country with strong educational system, rich cultural and natural resources. In fact, it has all of the ingredients for success. Talent and knowledge, based on creativity, are always the key to success.
šega also visited military airport Cerklje ob Krki and The Cultural Center of European Space Technologies in Vitanje.
Tonight he will launch our new initiative Believe in Slovenia, with which we are promoting cooperation between the US and Slovenia and present successful stories of Americans with Slovenian roots. More at www.believeinslovenia.si
