More than 60 Slovenian and Croatian economists on 18 May sailed on the Portorož – Umag route set as the first route of Microsoft AmCham Business Regatta, organized jointly by the American Chambers of Commerce of Slovenia and Croatia. Such business meetings assuredly strengthen the ties of friendship between both countries and open new opportunities for further business cooperation, which is actually the aim of the regatta.
The leading multinational companies of both markets as well as domestic Slovenian and Croatian companies took part in the regatta – among which we would like to especially point out the following – Microsoft, Coca-Cola, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Adecco, Interexport, Jack Daniels, Abbott, Droga Kolinska, Ortoinplant, etc., represented by the heads of companies. The guests of honor were H.E. Mr. Joseph A. Mussomeli, the Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Slovenia and H.E. Mr. James B. Foley, the Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Croatia. As Croatia is one of the most important trade partners of Slovenia, this event definitely means a step forward to strengthening the relations between the two countries. The competition in the market was this time replaced by a sail-boat racing and in the end the Abbott company team arrived first to the marina in Umag and was greeted with a loud applause by all the regatta participants. Such meetings are of great importance to further strengthening of economic collaboration and also prove the interest of both countries in good neighborly relations between Slovenia and Croatia. At the wish of all the participants, both AmChams will certainly organize the friendly match also next year, as the Slovenian and Croatian economists prove to be an excellent role model of good cooperation and mutual communication.
