On January 30, Ljubljana became a meeting point for Slovenian ambition and American opportunity. AmCham Slovenia, in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy in Slovenia, hosted the SelectUSA Roadshow, bringing together Slovenian companies exploring expansion to the United States with state representatives and legal experts who understand the realities of entering one of the world’s most competitive markets.

The program began with a practical overview by Stahl Law Corporation, addressing what it truly takes to establish a presence in the United States. Beyond the promise of market size and growth potential, companies were reminded of the structural, regulatory, and strategic choices that shape successful entry. The session did not simplify the process; it clarified it. Participants gained insight into common pitfalls, compliance considerations, and the importance of early planning when navigating the U.S. legal and business environment.

The core of the Roadshow centered on three U.S. states, Alabama, South Carolina, and Virginia, each presenting its distinct investment ecosystem. Rather than broad promotion alone, the discussion focused on concrete positioning: which industries are thriving, what types of international companies integrate successfully, and how state institutions support foreign investors throughout the process.

What made the exchange particularly valuable was the presence of companies in Slovenia already operating in those states. Jure Andročec, Litostroj Power shared experience from Alabama, Rok Vodnik, Kolektor reflected on South Carolina, and Klemen Pipan, SIBO offered a perspective from Virginia. Their contributions grounded the conversation in business reality. They spoke openly about operational adjustments, workforce integration, long-term strategic decisions, and the difference between initial expectations and on-the-ground experience.

This dialogue between state representatives and Slovenian executives created exactly what the Roadshow aimed to achieve: a space where promotion met practice, and where prospective investors could assess alignment between their own growth strategies and specific U.S. regional environments.

The strong engagement throughout the event confirmed the sustained interest of Slovenian companies in the U.S. market. It also reaffirmed the value of direct, structured exchanges that bring together institutional support and business experience in one room.

AmCham Slovenia remains committed to facilitating such connections and supporting companies that are ready to take the next step in their international growth journey. Events like the SelectUSA Roadshow are an important part of building stronger economic ties between Slovenia and the United States, not through slogans, but through dialogue, insight, and practical cooperation.

We thank the U.S. Embassy in Slovenia, the participating state representatives, Stahl Law Corporation, and all company leaders who contributed to a constructive and forward-looking discussion.
