Today, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Slovenia, the first meeting of the USA–Slovenia Business CoLab working group took place. The purpose of the USA–Slovenia Business CoLab is to provide a space for the exchange of opinions, experiences, and best practices of American companies operating in Slovenia. The meeting was held in a relaxed morning atmosphere, where an open and honest dialogue was initiated about the business environment, key challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
The guests of the meeting were representatives of the U.S. Embassy: Gregory Meier, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission and Political-Economic Counselor and member of the AmCham Slovenia Executive Committee; Paul Estrada, Economic Officer; Thomas Smith, Economic Officer; and Mirjana Rabič, Economic Specialist.
Among other topics, the discussion focused on foreign direct investment in the broader European space. Special attention was given to the question of how to maintain and strengthen the competitiveness of the Slovenian and European business environment during times of rapid global change. The need for greater transparency, simplification of procedures, and enhancement of predictability for investors and innovators was emphasized.
Ajša Vodnik, CEO of AmCham Slovenia and Chair of AmChams in Europe, highlighted the importance of transatlantic cooperation in her European role, stressing that it represents the most strategically important economic partnership, which must not be undermined by unpredictability and erosion of trust.
Vida Dolenc Pogačnik, COO and International Cooperation Director, emphasized that future meetings will continue to promote collaboration, the exchange of ideas, and the formulation of concrete recommendations that can contribute to enhancing Slovenia’s attractiveness as an investment destination.
