Startup Overseas 2025
How do you enter a market where dreams are measured in billions, yet a single mistake can end the story? How do you protect your idea, your invention, your brand in a world where legal rules set the pace of innovation?
At the second session of the Startup Overseas 2025: Colorado program, we searched for these answers and found them in the company of Dr. Peter Merc, lawyer and founder of Lemur Legal and Suricate Ventures, who for years has been paving the way for startups in the worlds of fintech, blockchain, e-sports, and e-commerce.
Dr. Merc guided us through the core questions that determine the future of companies:
- Legal aspects of doing business in the U.S. – how to avoid pitfalls and build foundations that stand the test of time.
- Intellectual property – why copyrights and patents are the currency of the future across all industries.
- Compliance and investor trust – why a company without a solid legal framework will never win over capital.
And now comes the next step. In less than two weeks, our participants will cross over to Colorado. There, they will embark on a week-long training program, focused on hands-on experience, direct contact with American partners, and tackling the real challenges of the market.
The program is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund. It is carried out under the program “Content Support for Faster Global and Sustainable Growth of Innovative SMEs (RazvojniPlus Program)” within the framework of the European Cohesion Policy Program 2021–2027.
