At today’s AmCham Business Breakfast entitled “Foreigners: Not a Question of Yes or No, but How?” the participants agreed that the success of the Slovenian economy and society depends on whether we know how to lead an open foreign policy and actively and equally cooperate with other countries and international organizations, which also includes opening our country to foreign experts and investors, knowing that neighboring countries’ HR pool is already emptied. Slovenia’s attractiveness is strongly conditioned by the stability and predictability of the business environment. They all pointed out their observations that Slovenians are reserved towards foreign experts and distrustful of what the arrival of foreigners means for Slovenian culture and that this concern is greater than the percieved added value of foreigners.

We were in a company of following participants:

  • Tanja Fajon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs;
  • Mitja Gorenšček, Executive Director, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, member of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia
  • Boštjan Grobler, Director Candidate Mobility, Workforce
  • John Denhof, President of the Management Board, NKBM

We were also joined by Jernej Česen, SVP of Distribution & BI, and General Manager, Ekipa 2.
