Dear AmCham Slovenia Members,

The AmCham Health and Wellbeing Committee invites you to the AmCham Focus titled:

How do we value the health of society and the individual?
Health is the foundation of a society’s progress. Without accessible, effective, and advanced healthcare, there is no productivity, innovation, or development.

At the AmCham Focus event, we will discuss access to advanced therapies and medicines, as well as plans to reduce waiting times. We will show how delays in treatment affect patients, businesses, and the state: from longer sick leave, complications, and more expensive hospitalizations to lower productivity, reduced tax revenues, and higher public expenditures.

The healthcare system is not merely a cost – it is an investment in Slovenia’s development.

Joining us will be:

FACTS:
  • The number of patients in Slovenia waiting beyond the maximum permissible waiting time is 78,776 — patients whose referral-based maximum waiting time has been exceeded (as of 1 January 2025).
  • Out of every one hundred employees, six are on sick leave each day. The cost of sick-leave compensation has risen from €216 million to €620 million over the past ten years.
  • Access to innovative medicines in Slovenia is deteriorating and currently stands at 50% (medicines approved at the EU level).
  • The time for innovative medicines to become available to Slovenian patients has increased from 400 to 600 days.

The discussion will be moderated by Jadranka Jezeršek Turnes, MSc, Director, Kontekst, creative and business consulting, and member of the AmCham Health and Wellbeing Committee, and Vida Dolenc Pogačnik, COO and International Cooperation Director, AmCham Slovenia.

You can register via the link in the invitation you have already received by email.

The event will be held in Slovenian with English translation.
