Members of the AmCham Investment Committee discussed the importance of Europe’s competitiveness at the March meeting and defined the themes for the April AmCham Business Breakfast. With our guests, we will discuss extensive European legislation, protectionism, and slow economic growth. We will address the climate crisis, geopolitical tensions, social unrest, and the rise of authoritarianism. In light of European and US elections, the importance of transatlantic cooperation will also be discussed, given that Slovenia celebrates 20 years as an EU member.

The second part of the meeting focused on construction legislation, particularly in obtaining permits, spatial planning, and changes in land use. After presenting the challenges and a report on the difficult and lengthy construction of industrial facilities in Slovenia, the commission decided to compare legislation in Croatia and Poland and attempt to propose foreign best practices to our decision-makers.
