On October 19, 2026, members of the AmCham Intellectual Property & Digital Regulation Committee, joined by members of the Ready 4D Future Committee, met online with Cezara Panait, Head of Government Affairs & Public Policy at Google (Romania, Moldova and Western Balkans).
The discussion, moderated by IP & Digital Regulation Committee co-chair Jaka Repanšek, focused on key developments shaping Europe’s digital future. Participants exchanged views on the European Commission’s Digital Omnibus initiative, the proposed Cloud & AI Development Act, digital sovereignty, cross-border data flows, and the importance of regulatory harmonization across EU Member States.
Particular attention was given to AI adoption and its economic potential. Cezara Panait presented findings from a Google-commissioned study indicating that broader adoption of generative AI could significantly contribute to productivity and economic growth in Slovenia. The discussion also highlighted the need to complement national AI strategies with concrete implementation measures, digital skills development, and practical support for businesses and public institutions.
Members further explored how innovation-friendly policies, regulatory simplification, and closer cooperation between policymakers, regulators, industry and civil society can help strengthen Europe’s competitiveness in an increasingly AI-driven economy.
