At a meeting of the AmCham Investment Committee, hosted by Atlantic Droga Kolinska on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, committee members discussed the key challenges facing Slovenia’s investment environment and identified priority topics for the year ahead.
The discussion focused on lengthy permitting procedures, attracting and integrating international talent, retaining domestic talent, and the need for a more predictable and competitive business environment. Particular attention was also given to Slovenia’s foreign direct investment (FDI) screening framework. Committee members highlighted the lack of predictability in the implementation of current procedures and emphasized the importance of continued dialogue with policymakers and relevant institutions.
Alongside the discussion on investment priorities, Jurij Žurej offered participants a glimpse into the rich history of Atlantic Droga Kolinska. Among other milestones, he highlighted that the company’s Ljubljana facility is the second-oldest factory in Ljubljana, underscoring the important role it has played in the city’s industrial and economic development over the decades.
In the coming months, the committee will prepare a set of concrete proposals aimed at improving Slovenia’s investment climate. The shared objective remains clear: to create conditions that enable Slovenia to attract investment, talent, and high value-added development projects more effectively.
